Barbera is an old Piedmontese grape variety that produces powerful, aromatic wines with a strong body and relatively low tannin content, unless it is given a little help with six months of aging in wooden barrels, as in this case.
Volpi's Barnera is red with garnet reflections, with a distinctive bouquet and a hint of wood. On the palate, it's dry and spicy, with woody notes.
