A unique feature among Apulian wines: Only 4,000 vines are planted per hectare, and the hand-picking ends as early as 9 a.m. to protect the grapes from the daytime heat. The bouquet features hints of ripe red fruits such as raspberries, blackberries, and plums (also in the form of jam), while the palate is spicy and full-bodied with a long, smooth finish.
